Cookie Policy
A clear list of every cookie and similar technology set or accessed when you visit POKI.love, with the vendor, purpose, and lifetime of each.
On this page
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, improve performance, and provide information to the site owners. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are called “first-party cookies.” Cookies set by other parties (such as advertising vendors) are called “third-party cookies.”
In addition to cookies, POKI.love and its advertising vendors may use web beacons (small transparent images), local storage, and SDKs (where applicable) for similar purposes.
2. Categories of Cookies We Use
We classify cookies into four categories, with the consent framework that applies to each:
- Strictly necessary — required for core site features such as session management and security. These are set without your consent under GDPR Art. 24 / ePrivacy Directive.
- Preferences — remember choices you make (e.g., your filter selection on the News page). Disabled if you block cookies.
- Analytics — anonymized, aggregated traffic measurement. We do not share this data with advertisers.
- Advertising — set by Google AdSense, Authorized Buyers, and other ad partners for ad selection, frequency capping, and measurement. These are the cookies that benefit the editorial work you read here — by allowing us to monetize the page.
3. First-Party Cookies
The cookies we set ourselves are minimal and session-based. They include:
poki_pref— remembers your filter and sort choice on News. Lifetime: 30 days.poki_session— short-lived session token used for CSRF protection on the contact form. Lifetime: 1 hour.
4. Third-Party Cookies (AdSense / ADX)
IDE, __gads, DSID, _gcl_au, 1P_JAR, and the historical DART cookie (now superseded by IDE). Their purposes include ad selection, frequency capping, fraud prevention, and aggregated measurement.
These cookies may be set even if you do not interact with ads on the page. They enable the advertising business that pays for our editorial work.
You can opt out of personalized advertising through:
For full detail on Google's cookie use, please review Google's Cookie Policy and Google's Advertising Privacy & Terms.
5. How to Control Cookies
You can manage cookies through several layers:
- Browser settings — every modern browser lets you block, allow, or delete cookies on a per-site basis. See your browser's help documentation.
- Privacy plug-ins — tools like EFF Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin, or DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials provide additional control.
- Ad vendor opt-out — for personalized ads from Google, use the link in section 4.
- Mobile device — iOS & Android expose advertising identifiers and “Limit Ad Tracking” controls under Privacy settings.
Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will degrade the Site's core functionality. Blocking advertising cookies will not reduce the number of ads you see — only whether they are personalized.
6. Policy Updates
We review this page when our cookie usage materially changes — for example, when we onboard a new analytics vendor or advertising partner. The “Last updated” date at the top of the document records the most recent revision.
